Holding Space for Strangers
I used to hide my grief behind “I’m fine.” I worried I’d worry people unnecessarily
Then two days ago I shared how I was struggling with my irreconcilable differences with my parents at a time my dad is in the ICU…you not only told me that it was ok to not be ok, you stayed, offered a helping hand, a willing shoulder.
You—people I’ve only known behind a screen.
You gave me courage to stay true to my feelings.
You gave me your wisdom, your love and your support.
You held space for me and my ambivalence.
And for that I am grateful.
