Day 5: No Phone, Just Art

We’ve traveled through lines, circles, marks, and grids together this week. Each day, our community grew stronger as we shared our simple moments of presence. Whether you filled pages or made a single mark, posted photos or practiced privately, you were part of something larger — a collective pause, a shared commitment to creativity.

How fitting that we end this journey on Valentine’s Day—a perfect moment to celebrate not just the love we share with others, but the love we show ourselves through creative practice.

Continue the Journey: Your Companion Guide

Throughout this week, I’ve witnessed that creativity doesn’t need to be frame-worthy to be valuable. It just needs to be authentic.

To help you continue nurturing this creative sanctuary, I’ve created the No-Phone, Just Art Companion Guide. This guide isn’t just a collection of prompts—it’s an invitation to keep exploring creativity in your own way, at your own pace. Think of it as a valuable keepsake you can return to whenever the world feels too loud or your spirit needs a creative pause.

In this guide, you’ll receive:

  • Expanded creative prompts that build on what we’ve explored

  • Reflection questions to deepen your practice

  • Simple techniques for finding creativity in everyday moments

  • A framework for maintaining this beautiful pause we've created together

Today’s Prompt: Colors

Color speaks directly to the heart. It doesn’t need perfect lines or recognizable shapes to move us. I won’t be sharing any video demos with you simply because I want you to express yourself in color however you choose—your favorite color in different hues, a rainbow explosion, colors you shy away from, a mix of your favorite color palette … there are so many options!

There are so many ways to express color, use these photos to inspire you

But for those who like some structured guidance, here are some invitations:

  • Fill your page with colors that make your heart sing

  • Let colors dance together — blending, bleeding, embracing

  • Scatter dots of color like confetti across your page

  • Choose colors that represent how you feel right now and let them spread

  • Layer colors over marks from previous days, weaving this week’s journey together

Any colors work — bright or soft, warm or cool. Use what you have: markers, crayons, paints, colored pencils, even food coloring or spices.

Today is about celebration, not perfection.

A Special Valentine’s Day Invitation

Today, consider making this a shared moment of creativity. Invite someone you care about to join your 5-minute color practice—a child, partner, parent, friend, or even your pet (paw prints can be quite artistic!). There’s something magical about creating side by side, each in your own way.

Can’t create together in person? Send a photo of your colors to someone you love, or better yet, invite them to try the challenge themselves by sharing the No Phone, Just Art 5-Minute Invitation with them.

Put your phone on Do Not Disturb for 5 minutes.

Notice how different colors affect you—and if you’re creating with someone, notice how your color choices might tell their own story of connection.

The Reply Ritual

After you’re done, if you feel like it:

  • Share a word that captures the feeling of your color play

  • If you created with someone, tell me who joined you today

  • Let your colors meet the world — share a photo if you’d like

  • Or simply sit with the joy of having given yourself this gift of creative time all week

No rules. No right or wrong.

Thank you for sharing this journey.

Here’s to many more creative moments ahead and a return to non-daily emails,

Mansi.
