Just Start

I don’t know much about the literary magazine world, I have never written any queries or pitches, and I am lazy to research “reputable publishers,” but I have a book deal and two essays accepted in two separate journals (this month).

How? I don’t know.

• Maybe it’s luck.

• Maybe it’s not attaching too much value to the outcome and just writing from my heart.

• Maybe it’s realizing that none of this is going to make me or break me — these are just small parts of a much bigger, much richer life.

So, if you’re hesitating … waiting for the “right” way, the perfect moment …maybe just start?

See it as a ripple instead of the whole ocean.
