Creating Dimension with Alcohol Inks on Craft Plastic

Sometimes I paint with intention but more often than not, I'm playing around with colors and experimenting. This is a subconscious painting that revealed itself to me.

I was simply dropping my alcohol inks on clear craft plastic from Grafix and swirling them around with a dental micro-applicator brush when I saw what looked like the cosmos. I had been feeling really gloomy when I started doing this but as the colors flowed around and blended, I could feel the energy change. And the only message I kept seeing in my head was "you are not alone."

These are unusual times and it’s harder some days than others to accept the reality and gravity of the situation — realizing just how insignificant human beings can be in this huge universe of ours, how interconnected we are despite our global distances and differences, how a microorganism can put pause on life as we’ve known it, how the earth has gone into repair mode because we’ve taken it for granted...I get overwhelmed... but I’ve been taking comfort in knowing that we are in this together.

And we can come out on the other side stronger, more compassionate, kinder and more appreciative of the little things in life. And perhaps, just perhaps, we’ll start taking better care of Mother Earth from now on.

Until next time,

Mansi.

P.S. I originally wrote in cursive but my daughter couldn’t read it and she insisted that my writing needs to be inclusive, so the message you see on the final card is all caps :)

Thanks for your kind words, Bonnie. I didn’t add any alcohol on top of the inks since they’re already diluted and I let this dry on its own.

Did you add any alcohol to it and did you heat set it or let it dry on it’s own??
