Pep Talk August 26

This is your friendly reminder to:

  1. Stop overthinking — the more you engage your brain in the practice of creating, the more pressure you’ll feel to get it “right.” Don’t spare a thought … simply get your hands messy and dive in. At the end of the day, all you will have “destroyed” will be a piece of paper.

  2. Stop overwhelming yourself with choices — restrict your color palette, limit your tools and stick with one subject matter. See how you can create the same thing over and over but, yet, differently. It’ll be stimulating, challenging, and exhilarating without the deluge of options we’ve become accustomed to.

  3. Stop doubting yourself — you may not be an award-winning, celebrated, famous artist but what does that even mean? The titles, the awards, the recognition means nothing compared to the joy you feel expressing your unique self through your art. Create because you want to. Make art for yourself, not someone else. Immerse yourself in the process and let the self-doubt help itself to a latte while you revel in your masterpieces!
